December 4, 2014
Toasting with Ontario sparkling wine and Ontario craft beer, the LCBO today officially opened its newest store at 953 Bank Street. This brings the number of LCBO stores in the Ottawa area to 36.
This 12,500 square-foot store has a selection of more than 1,800 wines, spirits, beers, ready-to-drink cocktails, coolers and beverage gift packs, and up to 750 VINTAGES premium wines and spirits. Among the store’s many features is a large Ontario wine section at the front of the store with about 237 Ontario wines, including nearly 140 VQA wines.
Joining LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter for the opening were His Worship Jim Watson, Mayor of Ottawa, and Kevin Keohane, President and CEO of the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Foundation (CHEO).
As part of LCBO’s commitment to promoting the responsible sale and consumption of alcohol beverages, LCBO retail staff challenged in fiscal 2013-14 more than 11.4 million people who appeared underage, intoxicated or were suspected of purchasing for a minor or an intoxicated person. More than 414,600 individuals were refused service; 86.9 per cent for reasons of age.
“LCBO is proud to be a part of the revitalization in the area of Lansdowne Park. This new store will strengthen service in Ottawa and will provide one-stop shopping for area residents and visitors,” said Bob Peter, LBCO President & CEO. “New stores like this increase customer satisfaction and have helped LCBO deliver 20 consecutive years of increasing dividend transfers to the province, including an all-time high $1.745 billion dividend for fiscal 2013-14.”
“Every year, all of the employees at LCBO locations in the Eastern Region and their customers rally around CHEO Foundation with their amazing support of the Giving Back In Our Community program. We want to thank LCBO customers and staff on behalf of CHEO’s kids and their families,” said CHEO Foundation President and CEO Kevin Keohane.
