Toasting with Ontario sparkling wine and Ontario craft beer, the LCBO today officially opened its relocated store in Niagara Falls at 3714 Portage Rd. The LCBO now has eight stores serving the Niagara region.
The 12,000 square-foot store offers more than 8,000 square feet of display space – more than three times the LCBO outlet on 3643 Portage Road, which it replaces. It also offers more than 1,600 products – 354 more than the former outlet.
“This new store significantly increases beverage alcohol service in Niagara Falls and will provide one-stop shopping for area residents and visitors,” said LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter. “New stores like this increase customer satisfaction and have helped LCBO deliver 18 consecutive record dividend transfers to the province, including an all-time high $1.6 billion dividend in fiscal 2011-12.”
Joining Bob Peter for the opening were Niagara Falls MPP Kim Craitor, Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati, LCBO Board Member Walter Sendzik, and Project SHARE Executive Director Elaine Pihach.
“I'm pleased to take part in the opening of this impressive new store that showcases the quality wines of our unique and vibrant wine-making region,” said MPP Craitor “This store reflects LCBO's commitment in providing Niagara Falls and area residents with a wide selection of VQA wines, as well as knowledgeable, responsible service.”
Among the new store’s many features are a large Ontario wine section with 360 wines, including 200 VQA wines, and a VINTAGES fine wine and premium spirits section offering more than 200 products. The store also features a large walk-in cold room for beer and ready-to-drink cocktails and coolers, mixed-drink displays, a gift section and a portable tasting bar.
“Project SHARE is grateful for the food donations we have received from the LCBO staff,” said Elaine Pihach, Executive Director of Project SHARE. “We rely on the support of our community to help us meet the increasing need for emergency food. We’re currently seeing an average of 100 families per day, and distributing 50,000 lbs of food per month.”
“LCBO stores are no longer just about bottles on the shelf,” notes Peter. “This is a place where you can get advice on planning a dinner party, improve your product knowledge and sample new and featured products from Ontario and 84 different countries.”
