Toasting with Ontario sparkling wine and Ontario craft beer, LCBO today officially opened its new store in Riverside South at 4460 Limebank Road. The population of the area is expected to increase by 85 per cent over the next 10 years.
This 10,000 square-foot store has 7,000 square feet of display space and a selection of 1,300 wines, spirits, beers, ready-to-drink cocktails, coolers and beverage gift packs.
“This new store significantly increases responsible beverage alcohol service in a fast-growing area of Ottawa, providing convenient, one-stop shopping for area residents,” said Bob Peter, LCBO President & CEO. “New and renovated stores like this contribute to higher levels of customer satisfaction and have helped LCBO deliver 18 consecutive record dividend transfers to the province, including an all-time high $1.6 billion dividend in fiscal 2011-12.”
Joining Bob Peter for the opening were Deputy Mayor Steve Desroches, City Councillor Gloucester-South Nepean, and Jacqueline Belsito, Vice President, Philanthropy and Community Engagement, CHEO Foundation.
“I'm pleased to take part in the opening of this impressive new store that matches LCBO products and services with our growing population,” said Deputy Mayor Desroches “This store reflects LCBO's commitment in providing area residents with a wide product selection and knowledgeable, responsible service. I would like to thank the LCBO for bringing goods and services to our growing community.”
“For the past 19 years, the generosity of LCBO customers and employees continues to astound us and this year is no exception with $229,033 being raised for our children’s hospital,” said Jacqueline Belsito, Vice President Philanthropy and Community Engagement, CHEO Foundation. “These funds will go towards the highest priority needs of the hospital and CHEO Research Institute and will help the doctors, nurses and staff at CHEO provide the very best care to the children and youth in eastern Ontario, western Quebec and beyond.”
Among the store’s many features is a large Ontario wine section at the front of the store with 300 Ontario wines, including more than 175 VQA wines. There is a VINTAGES fine wines and premium spirits section offering more than 300 products as well as a walk-in cold room with a wide variety of domestic and imported beers and ready-to-drink cocktails and coolers, a gift section and a tasting bar.
“LCBO stores are no longer just about bottles on shelves,” notes Peter. “This is a place where you can get advice on planning a dinner party, improve your product knowledge and sample new and featured products from Ontario and more than 84 different countries.”
