LCBO President & CEO George Soleas Announces Intention to Retire

Board appoints Aaron Campbell as Interim Leader

December 8, 2025 – TORONTO – LCBO’s Board of Directors today announced that President & CEO Dr. George Soleas will retire, effective January 31, 2026. The agency extends its appreciation to Soleas for his close to 30-year career at LCBO and for his years of public service to Ontario and the local beverage alcohol industry. His decade at the helm of the organization was marked by customer service excellence, significant transformation, and community impact, both through record LCBO dividends and charitable partnerships. 

“On behalf of the Board, I commend George on a distinguished career and for strategically positioning the LCBO to continue its important role in the beverage alcohol industry for decades to come.” said Carmine Nigro, Chair of the Board, LCBO. “Over his tenure, George earned a reputation as an innovative, award-winning, and values-based leader. His dedication, insight, and expertise will leave a lasting mark on our organization.”

Aaron Campbell, Chief of Staff and VP, Corporate Affairs, Strategy, and Sustainability will assume the role of Interim President & CEO on February 1, 2026. 

“In addition to extensive experience in public service, Aaron has a deep understanding of LCBO’s operations and strong connections with industry stakeholders and Ontario’s local producers. Aaron is well-positioned to lead the agency as we work through next steps and the Board thanks him for his leadership at this critical time,” Mr. Nigro added.
