WHAT IS
A GUARANTOR?
A Guarantor
is someone who:
has
known the applicant for at least two
years
is
a Canadian citizen
resides
in Ontario
is
over the age of nineteen years, and
is
one of the following professionals:
- Medical doctor, dentist, pharmacist,
chiropractor, optometrist, or veterinarian
- Lawyer, currently a member of
a provincial bar association
- Principal or vice principal of
a secondary school, senior university
administrator/head of a community
college or someone who is appointed
to a university teaching position
- Minister of religion, authorized
under provincial law to perform
marriages
- Federal, provincial, or municipal
judge, magistrate, or police officer
- Mayor / Reeve
- Professional Accountant (C.A.,
C.P.A., R.P.A, C.G.A., C.M.A., A.P.A.)
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.,
Eng. from Quebec)
- Notary Public
- Chief of Band (Indian Reserve).
Note: If you are unable to obtain
an acceptable Guarantor as listed
above, a Statutory Declaration or
affidavit in lieu of a guarantor may
be obtained through a lawyer or notary
public.
IMPORTANT
NOTICE: Sections 30 (12)
and 61 of the Liquor Licence Act,
R.S.O. 1990, c.L19, provide a penalty
of up to one year imprisonment or
a fine of up to $100,000.00, or both,
to a person who presents as evidence
of his or her age any documentation
other than documentation that was
lawfully issued to him or her.
