In the words of Chef Jasjit Singh, the passion for cooking was “bred in
her bones”. Having a grandfather who was a statesman employed by the Royal
family of Jaipur, a mother who experienced the royal treats prepared by
royal chefs, and early exposure to the wonderful variety of foods available
as she was growing up in Chandigarh, North-west India, led Jasjit to her
certification in culinary skills from Chandigarh.
Chef Jasjit’s career has encompassed a variety of food-related experiences,
including teaching at various institutions and venues, a freelance opportunity
in the food column of the Edmonton Sun, television appearances on
Rogers TV, and CITY TV’s Breakfast Television in Edmonton and
Toronto.
Each cooking class provides a glimpse of the culture and traditions of India,
North Indian cuisine and knowledge of spices that inspires all participants to
cook Indian meals in the comfort of their homes. “People who think cooking
Indian food is all hot-flavoured and tedious to cook, well, come and join me in
my class and rest your fears”.
Register for Chef Jasjit’s classes, where one lucky registrant at each class
will go home with an Indian Spice Box of wonderful spices, toasted and blended
by Chef Jasjit.
