The Gin Humbug

It is no surprise that the damp, foggy winters in London inspired Dickens to not only write about his surroundings, but to create a steeped cocktail to keep him warm. We have taken his original hot punch recipe as our guide and created the perfect sipper for the season.
Makes about 4 drinks
To a saucepan, add the zest of 1 orange, 2 oz lemon juice, 1 cup orange juice, 1 cup pineapple juice, 6 cinnamon sticks, 6 cloves, 2 tsp nutmeg and 2 tbsp honey. Bring to a simmer for at least 15 minutes. Add 1 oz gin and ½ oz port to a heatproof mug. Top with 4 oz hot liquid and garnish each with an orange slice.
