Tequila Sunrise

Tequila Sunrise

Early Summer 2005

By: James Chatto

It's another Tequila Sunrise, sang the Eagles way back when, but the cocktail is a good deal older, much loved by tourists to Mexico in the 1930's. The trick is to add the grenadine last, pouring it from a certain height so that it penetrates and streaks the drink rather than sitting on top or sinking to the bottom.

1½ oz Olmeca Gold tequila
5 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tbsp grenadine

Garnish:
Orange slice

1. Put 3 or 4 ice cubes into a tall glass. Add tequila and chilled orange juice. Drop grenadine into the drink. Garnish with an orange slice.
