Michel Picard Les Chalumeaux Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru 2008
Aromas of buttered toast, apple, corn on the cob, almonds and toast. The palate has a chalky, grainy texture, with wood, apple, toast and nutty almond notes. There is a slight oxidized quality, but one that adds complexity to the wine and is not out of step. A juicy lemon acidity carries the weight of the wine quite nicely, providing drive and length. This Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru offers considerable value, coming in at approximately $25 less than many of its peers. A good choice for roast pork or soft cheeses. (VINTAGES panel, Feb. 2016)
