Louis Brochet-Hervieux HBH 1er Cru Champagne 1996
This brand was created out of the 1944 marriage of Henri Brochet and Yvonne Hervieux. In 1980, Alain Brochet and Brigitte Prévost took it over. The 15-hectare vineyard is located north-west of Reims. The HBH cuvée contains a slight majority of red grapes (55%, most of it pinot noir). This 1996 is full, complex and has aged very well. It displays very nice toasty notes. We gave a star to both the Brut extra Brochet-Prévost and the Brut extra 1er cru Brochet-Hervieu made of the same blend (14% white grapes, 86% red grapes, mainly pinot noir) and from the same vintages (2003 and 2002). Score - 2 Stars (out of 3). (Guide Hachette, 2008)
