João Brito e Cunha Quinta de S. José Touriga Nacional 2015
The 2015 Touriga Nacional Quinta de S. José was aged for 12 months in used French oak and comes in at 14% alcohol. This is a classic 2015, bright, lifted and gloriously fresh, with intense fruit flavor. The tannins are refined but provided support. This lacks the depth of some years, but it has enough. It is impeccably balanced and the freshness will help it age and develop. Plus, it's delicious and wonderfully aromatic in its youth. It will be hard to resist when young, but it should develop well. This may be my favorite Touriga yet from this producer. João Brito e Cunha clearly has a knack for Touriga (he's also the winemaker for Touriga-Cha). We'll see how it develops in the cellar, to be sure. Drink Date: 2018-2038. Score - 93. (Mark Squires, robertparker.com, Aug. 31, 2017)
