Ecu Astra 2016
The Astra has a nose of ripe red berries, floral notes and delicate hints of sweet spices. The full-bodied wine has lovely notes of dark red fruits, notably cherry and plum on the palate. It has a stunning long finish that will always have you pouring another glass. It will age beautifully in your cellar for years - if you're able to keep your hands off of it for that long. Gamay grows beautifully on the slopes of the Loire Valley and this wine is the pinnacle of what comes from the region. The gamay should be enjoyed with rich, traditional French foods from a lovely assortment of cheeses to a beautifully done veal with cream. This wine is also so stunning that it should be enjoyed alone to allow your senses to truly discover its complexities. The Astra should be served between 17°C and 18°C.
