Château Saint-Pierre de Corbian 2014
The 2014 Saint-Pierre de Corbian is endowed with a real sense of power and intensity, especially for a wine of this level. A host of graphite, smoke, lavender and tar wrap around the black fruit as this mysterious wine shows off its compelling personality. A wine of pulsating energy, the 2014 punches well above its weight. The 2014 is a blend of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, done with manual punch-downs and aged in 40% new oak. Simon Blanchard from Stéphane Derenoncourt's team consults in what is shaping up to be one of the under the radar gems of the vintage. Score - 90-93. (Antonio Galloni,, April 2015)
