Bouchard Père & Fils Vigne de l'Enfant Jésus Grèves 1er Cru 2016
Here too the wood treatment is anything but subtle though it stops just short of completely overshadowing the exuberantly spicy plum liqueur and earth-scented nose. There is good drive and even better detail if not the impressive concentration to the medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the ever-so-slightly warm and very firm finish. Again, my predicted range assumes that the wood treatment will be successfully absorbed over time and note as well that plenty of patience will be necessary. Drink: 2031+. Sweet spot. Outstanding. Score - 92-94. (Allen Meadows, burghound.com, April 15, 2018)
