Artesa Estate Reserve Chardonnay 2012
The Reserve Chardonnay comes from the best of the southeastern facing estate blocks of Chard that sit at the edge of Mt. Veeder. This wine was aged 8 months on lees in French oak (50% new) and saw battonage twice a week. The deep and golden hued wine opens with tropical fruit aromas of creme brûlée, pineapple and banana. This leads to flavors of creme brûlée, vanilla cream, golden delicious apple and Bartlett pear. This Chardonnay is not for the weary, with nice richness that is fat on the tongue. This has a long and lingering creamy finish alongside lively acidity. (Best 2015-2024) Score - 91. (internationalwinereport.com, Nov. 2015)
