THE INSIDE SCOOP
We asked Joe, a Product Consultant at our Dundas Street West and Burnhamthorpe Road store, to tell us about a few of his favourite rich reds that he likes to serve with slow-cooked mains. Here are his three top picks from our Essentials Collection.
WYNNS COONAWARRA ESTATE BLACK LABEL CABERNET SAUVIGNON
“I’ve probably tasted 10-15 vintages of this amazing Aussie Cab over the years. But a stand-out moment in my fandom was at an Australian Wine Fair several years ago when it was paired with roast kangaroo loin! Wow. For more down-home game meats like venison and bison, I would definitely recommend this beautiful, rich red.”
LOUIS JADOT BEAUJOLAIS-VILLAGES
“I love introducing customers to Ripasso, a very popular and very Italian style of wine. I am also Italian. So when I recommend a Ripasso made in Niagara, the surprised looks on their faces is something I really enjoy. But it’s true! Foreign Affair makes a very authentic version. Wonderfully balanced, rich and flavourful, it is the perfect Tuesday night wine to serve with chicken picante or a roasted vegetable lasagna.”
“The adjective most often used for Merlot is soft. I love that. Now add complex, fruity with a hint of warm spice and you’ve just described this top-ranked wine from Bordeaux. The best food pairing I ever tasted with this wine was mashed potatoes – soft, of course – topped with beef ragu.”
