July 22, 2016

Friday, July 22, 2016 marks the opening of LCBO’s newest “Products of the World” specialty store. The destination boutique at 65 Wicksteed Avenue in Toronto offers around 200 Australian wines, including 56 that are unique to this location. This selection is believed to be one of the best single-store assortments available outside of the Australia.

Many of the wines are from LCBO’s Consignment Program, which means they are available to customers for the first time outside of bars and licensed restaurants. The selection will be regularly refreshed to keep the assortment interesting.

Products have been chosen to appeal to a wide range of tastes and budgets. The store is staffed with knowledgeable customer service representatives and five product consultants who can offer expert advice on these new offerings.

LCBO’s “Products of the World” specialty store program now includes eleven destination stores.

The first one featured Greek wines and spirits in the heart of Toronto’s Greektown, followed by Portugal in The Stockyards, Spain in Etobicoke, New Zealand in North Toronto, the Argentina boutique in Aurora, three Kosher locations with two in Toronto and one in Thornhill, the East Asia boutique in Markham and Chile in Mississauga.  All are experiencing positive sales growth, with some locations increasing as much as 272 per cent over last year.  More countries are planned for destination stores later this year.
