March 11, 2016

March 11, 2016 marks the opening of LCBO’s newest “Products of the World” specialty store. The destination boutique at 1838 Avenue Road in Toronto offers around 100 different New Zealand wines and spirits. The selection is believed to be the best assortment available outside of New Zealand.

Many of the wines and spirits are from LCBO’s Consignment Program, which means they are available to customers for the first time outside of bars and restaurants. The selection will be regularly refreshed to keep the assortment appealing.

Products have been chosen to appeal to a wide range of tastes and budgets. To better enhance the shopping experience for all fans of New Zealand wines and spirits, the store has five Product Consultants who can offer expert advice on the rare listings.

LCBO’s “Products of the World” specialty store program now includes seven destination stores. Since launching, sales of Greek products are up 150 per cent at the Danforth location compared to this time last year; sales of Portuguese products in The Stockyards are up 54 per cent; and sales of Spanish products at the Bloor and Royal York store are up 57 per cent. In late December 2015, two kosher locations were launched in Thornhill and Lawrence Heights in Toronto. In January, an Argentina specialty boutique opened in Aurora. More countries are planned for 2016.
