Freedom of Information

Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) gives the public a right of access to records of public sector organizations, such as the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO).

Requests can be made for the following types of LCBO information: general records; your own personal information; or to correct your personal information held by the LCBO.

How to Submit a Request for Information under FIPPA

Freedom of Information (FOI) requests must be in writing, provide sufficient detail to identify the information requested, and include the mandatory $5 application fee.

The $5 fee is payable to the LCBO by cheque or money order. Alternatively, subject to staff availability, a credit card payment can be made by calling the telephone number below during regular business hours. For your security, DO NOT leave credit card information on our voicemail or in any e‑mail communication, but upon reaching our voicemail please ensure to include your contact information so that we may return your call at the earliest possible opportunity.

Most FOI requests are responded to within 30 days, however, under certain circumstances this timeframe may be extended. Also, processing fees permissible under FIPPA may apply if, for example, the request is for a large volume of records. The LCBO will inform requesters if an extension to the response timeframe and/or additional processing fees may apply.

Requests must be sent to the following address:
